Support
Email support@codedrealities.com. A real person reads it. Please say which iPhone and which iOS version you are on, and what you expected to happen.
Please do not send real staff names, real earnings or payroll records. They are not needed to fix anything. Describe the shape of the problem with made-up numbers, or send a sheet you have made up on purpose.
Using it
- What counts as one portion?
- One stretch of service and the people who worked it. When somebody arrives or leaves, that is the end of one portion and the start of the next.
- What do I type into the cash and card fields?
- Only the new tips earned during that portion. Never a running total from the till — the app cannot tell the difference, and a running total would count the earlier tips a second time.
- Why is one person's share a penny more than another's?
- Because the split does not always come out even. One dollar between three people is 34, 33 and 33 cents. The extra smallest units go one each, following the order people are listed on the night, and the sheet says so where it happens. That is the rule the app applies consistently. It is not a statement about what is fair — your venue's agreement decides that.
- Can I change the currency after I have started?
- Not once the first portion is saved. Changing it afterwards would reinterpret every amount already entered. Start another night instead.
- I made a mistake in a saved portion.
- Open the night, tap Correct on that portion, fix the figure and save. The night is worked out again and the revision number goes up. A copy you have already shared does not change — send the newer one.
- Where did my part-typed portion go?
- Nowhere. If you leave the entry screen with something typed, the night holds it and says so, and it will not let you start another portion or share a sheet until you finish it or discard it deliberately.
- Can I use the same people again next time?
- Yes. When you start a night you can copy the names from an earlier one. Only the names come across — no amounts, no portions and no revisions.
- The app says some saved files could not be read.
- It means exactly that: a file would not open, and rather than delete it or pretend your library is empty, the app set those bytes aside and told you. If a copy of the save before it was available, the night is put back from that and the notice says so. The notice comes back every time you open the app until you remove the kept files, which is a deliberate, confirmed action.
What it deliberately does not do
- No hours, points, roles or percentages. Each portion is split equally between the people selected for it, and that is the only rule.
- No tip-out engine, payroll, tax, timesheet or point-of-sale connection. It reads no receipts and moves no money.
- No account, no sign-in, no server, no sync and no networking of any kind.
- No backup or restore. An exported sheet is a readable copy; it cannot be read back into the app.
- No in-app revision history to browse. The revision number tells one saved copy from another; it is not an audit trail.
- No advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
Does it fit my venue?
It fits if your venue already splits each stretch of service equally between the people who worked it. If the money is shared by hours worked, by points, by role, or as a percentage, this is the wrong tool and it will not do that arithmetic. Nothing here promises a fit with any particular workplace's rules.
Accessibility
The app uses standard native iPhone controls, supports Dynamic Type through the accessibility text sizes, works in light and dark appearance and in portrait or landscape, and labels its amounts with the payment kind and the currency rather than relying on colour or position.
It has been checked at the largest accessibility text sizes and through its published accessibility labels. It has not been tested with VoiceOver running on a physical device, so no verified VoiceOver support is claimed. If you find something you cannot reach or cannot read, please write — that is a defect worth fixing.
Availability and refunds
TipPortion is in development and not on the App Store yet, so nothing can be bought from here. When it is available it will be a single upfront purchase for the complete app.
Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. If you have bought an app and want a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com. Write to us anyway if something is broken — we would rather fix it.
